Thanks

Re: Panicked
Hi Tom

Boy do I recognize what you are feeling! Quitting can be like losing a friend, someone you've been used to and dependent upon on a daily basis.

The only thing that finally helped me was to realize that this was no friend. Cigarettes were making me sick, making it hard to breathe and to exercise, made me cough constantly not to mention worrying constantly about what ailments might develop that were unexpected and related to smoking. This friend was making me sick, suffocating me. In other words it was no friend at all.

My suggestions? Prepare a list that makes clear why you want to quit. Make another that talks about why you smoke... why you really smoke and then make a third that lists some things you can do instead of smoking. What will you do when the cravings hit... things that are good for you like walking, like slow sips of water, like a nutritious snack, a swim, a shower (impossible to smoke in the shower..lol)

The panic won't hurt you. It's just a feeling. Also, if you haven't already, talk to your doctor about medications that can help...

Congrats on beginning the journey.

Holland

Re: Panicked

Thanks for the information. I'm stopping and starting and stopping and starting. Right now I'm smoking again. I want to quit so badly and could feel the difference in just a couple of days.. Want to get back there. Tomorrow I start again.
